Feb 25th Monday Pairs
These must have difficult hands, judging by the variety of scores achieved
Board 1..... 5C EW..is the best contract. Those players who played the AC first, dropping the K, when drawing trumps will make 11 tricks. Those that led towards the QC first will lose 2 club tricks.
Board 2......I nice slam here...6C is safer than 6NT, but either needs to be played by South, to protect the KD. Only two pairs bid a slam.
..Board 3..... Most were in 4H (how come you played in 1S Liz?), making 10 or even 11 tricks. 4H can be defeated, by leading A and another club, but this seems an unlikely play.
Board 5....... The NT bidders would have to play this from the North hand, otherwise a QS lead from West would scupper the contract.
Board 11....... The contracts ranged from 5Cx to 'all pass' !!!! The mind boggles.
Board 24....... A slam hand, but noone bid it. Hardly surprising, because it would mean playing in a 4-3 fit. in hts, or a 5-3 fit in clubs., with finesses to guess.
